If your central A/c system is entirely independent of your heating system than you most likely have an Air Handler in the attic, basement or closet, generally attic, and you would have a condenser outside. This might be a single zone, or multi zone system. An easy way for you to tell, is by how many thermostat control zones you have for your a/c in your home.
If you have a condenser outside, and the copper lines go right into the basement you can follow them, if you find them attached to "a box" on top of your gas or oil forced hot air heating system. In this design they basically just put a big coil in front of your furnace, so it can use the fan from you furnace to blow the cold air off the coil through the same vents your heat comes through. In this case you would almost always have the same thermostat control for your heat and a/c.
Similar to the description above for single zone a coils, but for this design you would have to have multiple thermostat zone controls that each control both heat and a/c as selected.
Mini-Split systems are similar to Split systems, but they are generally higher pressure, and involve different install, service, and diagnostic procedures. All of our techicians are highly trained and certified by multiple manufactures of these systems.
Mitsubishi Electric, Haier, and Fujitsu (Halycon) are some of the top brands in Mini-Split Systems. They offer extremely efficient heat and A/C for a single zone or entire home. Visit their websites from the links above to learn more. Use for Primary Heat and A/C or can be a great source of Supplemental comfort for the Hot or Cold spots in your home, or more cost efficient way to Heat or Cool a new addition.
Haier offers a line of "slim duct" products that we have not seen by the other manufacturers yet. This is a great Alternative to traditional central a/c, which gives you the same result, look, and feel. These "slim duct" products are best installed during construction but can be covered by a soffit afterwards as well. Haier offers the most options and flexibility in their systems of all the other manufacturers.
